Kashmiri Song : Cleis Pearce

Cleis Pearce is an Australian viola and violin player and composer, who played in Mackenzie Theory and Kanguru and other bands from the 1970s onwards. She now lives in northern NSW and occasionally produces music like this.

Kashmiri Song was recorded in 2009.

Cleis has a Facebook page here and her new album, ‘Bow & Brush’ is available here at BandCamp for listening and purchase.

Cleis is certainly far and away the leading Australian creative fiddle player. Her main instrument is the viola and she also plays violin. Her composition and fiddle technique and aesthetic have improved with age and her’s is some of the most beautiful, and occasionally challenging, contemporary music you are likely to hear.
